Remove location from a photo before sharing

A photo can reveal where it was taken, even when the location is not visible in the picture.

On Mac

Open your photo in EXIF Cleaner and inspect the metadata preview. Make a copy first: cleaning on Mac changes the original file in place. Choose Standard to remove location, camera and dates. Clean the copy and inspect its metadata again before sharing. Mac supports JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC and HEIF.

On iPhone and iPad

Select the photos in Photos, tap Share and choose EXIF Cleaner PRO. The app creates cleaned copies for sharing and leaves your library originals unchanged. Share the cleaned copies, rather than returning to the originals.

Check what is visible too

Removing metadata does not hide a street sign, a face or text in the picture. Check the image itself before publishing. Hider on Mac can help cover visible details; review its result before you share.
